Thailand's Prime Minister, Prayuth Chan-Ocha, recently announced that starting next month, travelers from 46 countries who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 will be exempt from quarantine. This number has been increased from the originally announced ten.

As part of a plan to resuscitate its key tourism economy, the Southeast Asian country plans to establish new quarantine-free travel arrangements starting in November.

Last week, Prayuth stated that at least ten nations would be excluded from quarantine, including Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, and China. Visitors could avoid mandatory quarantine because they are completely vaccinated, arrive by plane, and have a certification proving they are virus-free, according to Prayuth.

Thailand has stated that curfews will be lifted in Bangkok and other popular tourist locations such as Pattaya and Hua Hin by the end of the month.

According to reports, Thailand's COVID outbreaks were kept under control until recently due to tight quarantine and admission regulations. However, the aforementioned restrictions had an impact on the tourism sector, with Thailand losing roughly USD 50 billion in tourism earnings last year, a drop of 82 percent. As a result, in order to restore its tourism industry, it began with a trial reopening on July 1 on its most popular island, Phuket, where the majority of the local population had been vaccinated.
