Those who have been dreaming of a Hawaiian vacation are about to get their wish! Hawaii, one of the world's most stunning island locations, has announced that tourists will be welcomed back on November 1.
The governor of the state, David Ige, made the news on Tuesday. He went on Twitter and said, "The continuous trend of decreased COVID case counts in our islands gives me hope. Our hospitals are performing better than in the past, and they are seeing fewer patients. This allows us to continue our economic recovery while also allowing us to safely welcome back fully vaccinated domestic travelers."
Non-essential as well as business travelers will be permitted to visit the island. The governor went on to say that they will continue to monitor case counts and hospitalizations on the islands since the citizens' health and safety are paramount.
The governor has already advised visitors to Hawaii to postpone their vacations due to an increase of COVID-19 cases on the island, but he never officially ended the state's "Safe Travels" program. Domestic visitors who came with proof of immunization or a negative test were allowed to avoid quarantine under this program.
"We're continuing to collect information from the federal government on plans for overseas travel and will have a proper strategy in place ahead of Nov. 8," the governor added in his tweet.
