The Sundarbans is a mangrove zone in the delta shaped by the conversion of Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna Rivers in the Bay of Bengal. The Sundarbans an UNESCO legacy site.


1.            SUNDARBAN NATIONAL PARK

Sundarbans National Park is a large Indian and Bangladesh-shared coastal mangrove forest. The area is home to the Royal Bengal tiger, along with other endangered species such as the estuarine crocodile and dolphin from the Ganges River. There are many things at once in the Sunderban National Park. The richness of this mangrove environment is the biosphere reserve, the domestic park and the tiger reserve. In fact, Sunderbans is a big delta spread over 40,000 sq. The UNESCO World Heritage Site was proclaimed in 1987. Sunderbans National Park provides visitors with only boat safari.

2.           SAJNEKHALI WATCH TOWER

This watchtower is the most popular among all watchtowers because of its proximity to most of the resorts in the Sundarban area.There is also a Mangrove Interpretation Centre, a Bono Bibi Temple and the Crocodile Park in the watchtower complex of Sajnekhali.


3.           SAJNEKHALI BIRD SANCTUARY

Sajnekhali Bird Sanctuary or Sajnekhali Abhayaranya is a paradise for bird watchers and one of Sundarbans ' three wildlife sanctuaries. Located next to the Sunderbans Tiger Reserve, this sanctuaryis known for its diverse bird population. Sajnekhali Watch Tower is an ideal place to spot wildlife.

4.           SAJNEKHALI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Sajnakhali Wildlife Sanctuary is a 362 km² area in the northern part of the Sundarbans delta in South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, India. Most of the area is mangrove scrub, forest and swamp. It was established in 1976 as a shrine.

   TIMING-6.00AM in the morning till 5:30 PM in the evening.



5.           NETIDHOPANI WATCH TOWER

This watchtower gives you a view of the ruins of a Shiva Temple, 400 years old.

6.           SUDHANYAKHALI WATCH TOWER

From this tower, most of the tigers are seen. From this watch tower can also be seen some other wildlife such as axis deers, wild boars and crocodiles.


7.           KANAK

Kanak to see the Olive Ridley turtles that thrive mostly in shallow waters and beaches. Kanak is one of the sanctuary beaches that shelter these turtles. The turtles travel from several kilometers to these shallow coastal waters during breeding season. Olive Ridley turtles are an endangered species and one of the smallest sea turtles.

8.          HALLIDAY ISLAND

The Halliday Wildlife Sanctuary, commonly known as Halliday Island, is one of the Sundarbans Biosphere Reserve's three wildlife sanctuaries, the other two being the Sajnekhali Wild Life Sanctuary and the Lothian Wildlife Sanctuary.


9.           KAPIL MUNI TEMPLE

Kapil Muni Temple is located on West Bengal's Sagar Island. Swami Ramanand is thought to have installed the deity in 1437. The current structure is a recent one and it has a block of stones, considered to be Sage Kapil's representation.

10.       PIYALI ISLAND

Before joining the Matla river, the Piyali river flows through lush green paddy fields. Not far from Sunderbans, Piyali is a remote and tranquil island, covered by mangrove forests. This is a great place for bird watching as island is home to a variety of bird species.

11.         LOTHIAN ISLAND

Lothian Island Bird Sanctuary is famous for a variety of bird species found here, including Black-Capped Kingfisher, Curlew, White-Bellied Sea-Eagle, Tern and Whimbrel.

12.        BHAGABATPUR CROCODILE SANCTUARY

The Sunderbans Bhagabatpur Crocodile Project is home to many crocodiles that vary in age. This is a crocodile-breeding farm harboring India's largest number of estuarine crocodiles.

13.        DO BAN KI WATCH TOWER

This watchtower presents one with a unique watching wildlife experience from its Canopy Walk. This canopy walk is approximately half a kilometer long and approximately 20 ft from the ground.

14.        BURIRDABRI WATCH TOWER

This watch Tower in the Burirdabri camp is famous for its watchtower, a mud walk and mangrove cage trail leading to a view point known as Raimongal View Point. During the mud walk, the ground fauna consisting of snails, crab varieties and mollusc can be closely observed. Wooden watchtower overlooking Bangladesh with the Raimongal River forming the border between India and Bangladesh. From this watchtower one can see the Bangladesh Sundarbans.

15.         JHARKHALI PARK
