In an unusual turn of events, after being caught cooking chicken near one of the hot springs within the park, a man was barred from Yellowstone National Park in the US for two years! The man from Idaho was part of a party of 10 hikers visiting the Shoshone Geyser Basin, a thermal place forbidden to hikers and tourists, according to many local news outlets.

How it was done

Any rangers present at the park obtained details about the bizarre incident from some locals. They saw two whole chickens submerged in one of the hot springs when they reached the place, and there was a cooking pot near it. Not only was the man in question found guilty, along with two other hikers, of being present in the restricted area, but also of breaking simple laws. He pled guilty and was fined $600 on each of the charges (Rs 44,377.92). In addition, he was also asked to complete two years of unsupervised probation and was barred for the duration of the term from entering the park.

But, this is not the first time an event like that has occurred. In 2001, it is claimed that a famous TV personality from Seattle dug a hole for his TV show near one of the hot springs and cooked a chicken. He just wanted to show the world how it is possible to use natural heat for cooking purposes. However, the man was fined $150 (Rs 11,096.25) and a two-year sentence of probation was also imposed for "disturbing the mineral deposits in the national park."

For tourists, the hot springs in Yellowstone National Park are off-limits because they can be unsafe and unpredictable. Consequently, the US government has forbidden individuals to put something for their own protection and security in the boiling hot waters. You will be severely fined if found trespassing.
