Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, many festivals and events were either canceled or virtualized for the safety of individuals. The Zero Festival of Music 2020 is the latest to bite the dust.
Earlier, there were reports that, as every year, the festival will not take place in September, and the organizers also said they were not sure if it could be hosted this year. However, the organizers have now decided to take the online route, as per the latest developments. Announcing the same thing on social media, the organizers announced the dates for the 2020 Ziro Music Festival. The event is now virtually hosted on 21 and 22 November, thereby cutting the duration of the festival by half.
As per their position, there will be collaboration to make this virtual party possible between the British Council of India, British Council Wales, and Wales Arts International. As of now, further details are expected.
The outdoor event is usually held on the vast expanse of lush greens in the Ziro Valley of Arunachal, with unlimited and unadulterated independent live music for four days. Besides this, the festival is also praised for being the most eco-friendly festival in the country. Even the basic infrastructure of the event is made of locally sourced material to make this festival happen.
The festival began in 2012 and has seen famous artists such as Steve Shelley, Lee Ranaldo, Divine, Indus Creed, Shaa'ir + Func, Peter Cat Recording Co, Barmer Boys, and Menwhopause perform live to entertain audiences, among others.
