Every new day, the coronavirus pandemic gives us new ideas and inventions. In a new move, Abu Dhabi's quarantine rules are modified with the addition of a wristband that you have to put on. Travelers arrive at the Airport of Abu Dhabi will be handed these wrist bands before they depart for a quarantine period of fourteen days.

Why the wristband?

Etihad has already announced that it is asking passengers to start wearing electronic wristbands when they arrive in Abu Dhabi.

The band is expected to keep track of you when you start your 14-day mandatory quarantine. The new guidelines set out by the Abu Dhabi Crisis, Emergency, and Disaster Committee are intended to ensure that no further outbreaks occur. You can remove the band after two weeks, but not before you get a negative result on the 12th day of your quarantine. As it is, Abu Dhabi wants you to be tested within 96 hours of your flight, irrespective of your final destination.

Abu Dhabi's wristband rule comes as the UAE witnessed increasing cases of Coronavirus. September 12 saw the largest spike in the regular number of cases of Coronavirus since the onset of the pandemic.

Arriving in another emirate

If you happen to be landing in another UAE city and then entering Abu Dhabi, you will have to display proof of your arrival. Those who spend less than 14 days in another section of the UAE will have to take the test, go to quarantine and, of course, wear the electronic band. The number of days in quarantine will depend on the number of days spent in other areas of the UAE.

So, if you've spent six days in another country, you're just going to have to get into quarantine for eight days.
